IDYLLWILD ATM THEFT NETS TWO SUSPECTS

Written by Trevor Montgomery

Idyllwild, CA; On September 14, 2015, Sgt. Robert Duckett of the Riverside County Sheriff's Hemet Station wrote in a press release that at about 4:30 A.M on that date, while working routine patrol in the Mountain Center/Idyllwild area, a Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy from the Hemet station responded to a business within the 53000 block of E. Highway 74, in the unincorporated area of Mountain Center.

Deputies responded to the location and began an investigation of an ATM theft from the business. The investigation revealed multiple suspects drove away in a dark-colored SUV with the ATM. Deputies immediately began checking the area and subsequently located the suspect vehicle a short time later.

During the investigation, information possibly linking the suspects to a string of ATM thefts in San Bernardino County was uncovered. In a coordinated effort with the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department, Hemet Station Investigators arrested the following suspects: Ryan Patrick Mason and Nickolas Gordon Melendez.

Both suspects were booked into the Riverside County Jail for commercial burglary and theft.

Anyone with information about this incident or others similar to it are encouraged to call Investigator Dorrough at the Hemet Sheriff's Station at (951) 791-3400.
