Hemet Eye News - Marijuana Honey oil lab bust in Hemet

ARRESTS MADE IN HONEY OIL LAB
On September 1, 2015, at approximately 11:54 am, a Hemet officer was flagged down by a
citizen in the 100 block of west Devonshire Avenue. The citizen reported a man with a gun
driving a black truck, to include other specific details and a partial license plate. The citizen
reported the man with the gun chasing someone running down the street.

Through further investigation, Hemet Police Officers were able to locate an address for the suspected vehicle in the 4500 block of Cloudywing Road, in the City of Hemet. Officers responded to the address
and located the suspected vehicle in a driveway on Clowdywing Road, which was occupied by
two adults and a toddler. Further investigation led officers into the residence where they located
five adults and six juveniles, ranging in ages of four months to seven years old.

Inside the residence officers located two firearms, ammunition, 250 butane canisters, elaborate
equipment used for manufacturing “Honey Oil”, approximately 50 pounds of marijuana,
approximately 160 grams of “Honey Oil” – described as a sticky substance of concentrated
cannabis that is potent and highly dangerous to manufacture.

The process uses butane to extract and concentrate compounds from marijuana, this process is dangerous due to improper butane ventilation which can cause explosions.
Hemet Police Department, with the assistance of Riverside Sheriff’s Office Marijuana
Eradication Team and Hazardous Device Team, processed the scene and collected all the
evidence. City of Hemet code enforcement responded to the scene and red-tagged the
residence.
All seven subjects located at the residence were arrested on various charges and later
transported to Riverside County Jail. All the juveniles were handed over to Child Protective
Services. The estimated street value of the marijuana and “Honey Oil” was approximately
$15,000.00
