In a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Sgt. Manning of Sheriff's Administration wrote, "The work of a deputy coroner is a key part in our law enforcement community. Duties include conducting investigations to determine the cause and mode of death and the identity of decedents in cases under the Coroner's jurisdiction. They are also charged with locating and notifying next of kin. Deputy Coroner Townsend represents the unsung heroes of this field. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is proud to recognize Deputy Coroner Townsend and the exemplary staff that help to make a difference within the communities we serve."
At this years California State Coroner's Association symposium, Deputy Coroner Townsend was honored as the 2015 Coroner Investigator of the Year. Deputy Coroner Townsend had been selected as recipient for the prestigious award and she was chosen from coroner investigators who had been nominated from across the state. Riverside County Sheriff's Captain Huskey, who is assigned to the Coroner's Bureau, presented the award to Deputy Coroner Townsend in recognition for demonstrating professionalism and compassion in all aspects of her duties and for excellence in conducting complex death investigations.
