On September 19, 2015, at approximately 11:26 p.m., a deputy with the San Jacinto Police Department w
as on routine patrol in the area of First Street and Jordan Avenue when he conducted a records check of a vehicle. The sheriff's dispatch center advised the deputy the vehicle had been reported as stolen.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, however the driver refused to stop and he immediately began to attempt to elude the deputy. The deputy initiated a vehicle pursuit.

The suspect vehicle drove in a reckless manner in his efforts to elude the pursuing deputy and he eventually drove into a field near Jordan Avenue and Artesia Street where the vehicle became disabled when it drove over a dirt mound.

The suspect fled from the vehicle into the darkness of the night and a perimeter was set up by assisting deputies. With assistance from a Riverside County Sheriff's Department bloodhound tracking dog, the suspect was eventually tracked down and located hiding in a nearby yard inside the perimeter established by deputies and assisting officers from nearby agencies

A press release on the San Jacinto Police Department's Facebook page released today indicated Christian Alvarez, 19-years-old, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, and violation of probation. Alvarez was subsequently booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
