On Monday, September 21 2015, at approximately 5:00 pm, deputies from the Perris Police Department were dispatched to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon that had just occurred in the 3200 block of Ivy Way in the city of Perris.
When responding deputies arrived on scene their initial investigation revealed a shooting incident had occurred at the location and that a male victim who had been shot in the neck had been transported away from the scene in a private vehicle, being driven by someone who knew the victim.
A short time later the Riverside County Sheriff's Dispatch Center received a call of a two vehicle collision that had just occurred at the intersection of Evans Road and the Ramona Expressway. One of the vehicle's involved in the accident was the vehicle that had been transporting the male shooting victim to the hospital. It was unknown at the time of this report what had caused the accident or if any other extenuating factors were involved.
Ultimately, the male shooting victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the initial shooting incident.
In a press release, Sgt. Raymond Huskey of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department wrote, "Perris Police detectives and investigators from the Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit responded to both scenes and assumed the investigation. This investigation is ongoing and the victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin."
Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact Investigator Paz of the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777, or Detective Parker of the Perris Police Department at (951) 210-1000.
