Simi Valley resident dies at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park

Lake Elsinore, Calif.; On Friday, October 2, 2015, personnel from American Medical Response and the Riverside County Fire Department responded to the report of an accident that had occurred at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park, in the city of Lake Elsinore.

According to a press release from the Riverside County Coroner's Department, at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Friday morning, Matthew Peters, a 30-year-old resident of Simi Valley, was injured while visiting the motorsports park. 

Peters was treated by emergency first responders on scene, prior to being transported to the Inland Valley Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment. Despite doctor's best efforts, Peters was pronounced dead just a short time later, at 12:09 p.m.

Information and details regarding incident and circumstances surrounding Peters' death remained extremely limited as of Saturday, with the only information about the incident coming from the Coroner's press release. Numerous calls to the Elsinore Motorsports Park employees went unreturned as of this report being released.

The Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park is known both nationally and internationally for hosting events such as the upcoming 2015 Lake Elsinore Grand Prix scheduled for this month, as well as recent events such as the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. The sports park also provides daily opportunities for regular riders and drivers to race on the same track as the professionals.

  3. How awful. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I wonder if he was into extreme riding. Just goes to prove how fragile one's life is. It can be gone in an instant. Thank you Trevor. Please keep us updated on the details. I'm really curious if he was an experienced rider and if so, what the heck happened to cause his accident to be fatal. :/
