related to the death of a man in Romoland
Unidentified man's death has been ruled a homicide

On Tuesday, the victim in this homicide was identified as Almarez Moses, a 43-year-old resident of Menifee. No further information has been released at this time and Riverside County Sheriff' Investigators from the Department's Central Homicide Unit are urging anyone with information about this incident to immediately contact Investigator Posson of the Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777 or Investigator Barajas of the Menifee Police Department at (951) 210-1000. Original Report


Romoland, Calif., On Sunday, October 4, 2015, at approximately 6:56 p.m., personnel from the Riverside County Fire Department/Cal Fire responded to the area of the 27000 block of Washington Avenue in the unincorporated community of Romoland near Menifee, regarding the call of a man down. 

Upon their arrival to the scene, Firefighters discovered an adult male lying in the roadway who was seriously injured and unresponsive. According to a report from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the victim was suffering from life-threatening injuries. The man, whose injuries appeared to be the result of unspecified criminal activity, was transported to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Sheriff's Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Menifee Police station began the initial investigation into this incident, which has since been ruled a homicide. Sheriff's Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit have assumed the investigation. 


On Monday afternoon, a spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said the victim had not died from being struck by car, but some other felonious criminal activity. The spokesperson declined to elaborate further or provide any additional details regarding this incident, as the investigation is ongoing.
As of Tuesday morning, the victim's name had not been released and was being withheld pending confirmation of his identity and notification of his next of kin.
