Palo Verde Valley, Calif.;
On Thursday, October 1st, 2015, after a thorough and exhaustive five-month-long investigation, investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Colorado River Station were finally successful in identifying 73-year-old Blythe resident, Jeff Hsieh, as the suspect involved in at least two attempted kidnappings that occurred in the 18000 block of Maple Drive, located in the unincorporated area of Blythe known as Palo Verde Valley.

During the month of May, 2015, investigators were contacted regarding a then unidentified adult male who had been seen driving a white sedan, who had been suspected of attempting to lure several different children into his vehicle near a school bus stop in the Palo Verde Valley.

During the course of their investigation, investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Colorado River Station determined that
on at least two separate occasions the suspect had stopped his vehicle at or near the school bus stop and attempted to coerce school age students into his vehicle. During both of those attempts the suspect was unsuccessful in luring the juveniles into his vehicle because the children fled from the suspect and reported both encounters.

In a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department,
Investigator Julio Oseguera wrote "Hsieh was arrested and booked into the Riverside County jail, located in the City of Blythe, for two counts of child annoyance, two counts of attempting to lure a juvenile into a vehicle, and two counts of stalking. Public safety information regarding this incident was provided to the Palo Verde Unified School District as well as the Blythe Police Department."

Investigator Oseguera went on to explain, "Investigators worked closely with school administrators from the Palo Verde School District to ensure the safety of students and educate them concerning the dangers of speaking with strangers."

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department wanted to take this opportunity to remind all parents, guardians and child care providers to speak with their children concerning their interactions with strangers and to always walk with another student or parent when present in areas not visible to the public.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Julio Oseguera at the Colorado River Station at (760) 921-7900, or they can call anonymously at (760) 341-STOP (7867). Callers can refer to Incident
