Hemet, Calif.; Yesterday, faithful Hemet News reader, Lena was out and about in town when she decided to cash a check and go to a local Dollar Tree in Hemet. It was a hot day and as Lena was walking in to her bank, she was approached by a (possibly homeless) gentleman who asked her for a dollar so he could buy a drink to quench his thirst.

Lena didn't hesitate to provide the man with not only the one dollar he asked for but a four dollar tip as well. After giving the gentleman the money Lena went into the store and saw the man head for the cold drinks cooler.

After that, Lena went about shopping until she had to deal with her young baby who was getting fussy. At some point while soothing her little one, she distractedly set her wallet down, which contained her entire check that she had just cashed before going into the Dollar Tree. Not knowing this, Lena went about her shopping and had been at the store for a while before going to ring up her purchases, at which time she realized what she had done. Needless to say, after just realizing she had lost more than $300, Lena was in a panic.

Lena was so upset with herself she started to cry right there in the store, because she knew she had just lost her entire month's worth of money. As she was leaving the store, trying to figure out what she would do next, Lena saw the gentleman from earlier running after her, waving her wallet in hand!

Lena was so elated and relieved she started crying again! A later check of the contents revealed nothing had been moved or touched and all her money, credit cards and belongings were inside and accounted for.

Lena couldn't thank the man enough and she looks forward to a time soon when she can repay him for his kind act.

About the incident, Lena said it gave her faith there are still good people who will do the right thing throughout Hemet.
