Nuevo man hospitalized after being shot by his wife

Nuevo, Calif., On Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at approximately 6:15 a.m. deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Perris Police station responded to  the 21900 block of North Drive, in the unincorporated area of Nuevo, regarding the report of a domestic violence incident and a shooting that had occurred at the location.

When responding deputies arrived at the residence, they found an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was treated by emergency first responders at the scene prior to being transported to a local area hospital.

According to Deputy Michael Vasquez of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Media Information Bureau, the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the shooting and he is expected to recover. The victim's wife was subsequently arrested and taken into custody without further incident, according to Vasquez.

Deputies and investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Perris Police station are continuing their investigation into this incident.
