Armed Man Arrested Poolside at Devonshire Apartments on 12 counts of brandishing a firearm and 9 counts of misdemeanor child abuse.

On Tuesday, June 28th, at approximately 8:05 PM, Hemet Police Officers responded to the Devonshire Apartments’ pool - 2770 West Devonshire Avenue regarding an intoxicated male adult brandishing a handgun. The pool was actively being used by several tenants and children. Officers arrived and took Martrell Coleman into custody without incident.

The investigation revealed that Coleman, a 23-year old resident of the apartment complex, was in possession of .44 caliber revolver. Additionally, 9 children fled to the poolside restroom prior to law enforcement’s arrival. The children were hiding inside the poolside restroom in fear. Officers later determined the gun was unloaded.

Coleman was arrested on 12 counts of brandishing a firearm and 9 counts of misdemeanor child abuse. Coleman was transported to Riverside County Jail where he was held on $5,000 bail.
