UPDATE 8/11/15 @ 7:20 a.m. - After mapping the fire the acreage has been updated to 487 acres. The fire is now 20% contained. Updates will continue to be posted as information becomes available.














UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 7:00 p.m. - The evacuation center at Hamilton High School has been closed. All persons who were evacuated have sheltered in place. UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 6:00 p.m. - The American Red Cross has established an evacuation center located at Hamilton High School, 57430 Mitchell Road, Anza, CA 92539. Homes east of Paradise Valley Cafe are under evacuation orders. This includes all residences on the following streets: Hialeah Way Pimlico Drive Arlington Road Paradise Drive Church Hill Downs Wood Blue








UPDATE 08/11/2015 4:50 p.m.: Fire remains at 487 acres and is now 50% contained. Resources will remain on scene until full containment and control is reached. Next update will be tomorrow morning, 08/12/2015, unless significant events on scene dictate otherwise.
UPDATE 8/11/15 @ 12:30 p.m. - Highway 74 is now open in both directions. The firefighters that suffered minor injuries and were transported by ground ambulance yesterday were released from the hospital last night. They are clear to return to work tomorrow (8-12).
UPDATE 8/11/15 @ 10:00 a.m. - All evacuation orders have been lifted. Highway 74 is open for one lane travel. They are anticipating full opening of lanes later on today.

UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 9:00 p.m. - The forward rate of spread has been stopped. The fire remains at 500 acres and 10% contained. Highway 74 will remain closed throughout the night. Unless there are significant changes no updates will be posted until tomorrow (8/11/15) morning, after morning briefing. Morning briefing will be held at Paradise Valley Café at 7:00 a.m. The media is welcome to attend. CAL FIRE PIO Captain Richard Cordova will be available for media inquiries at the morning briefing.

UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 5:00 p.m. - The fire is now 500 acres. No change in containment. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries while fighting fire. All three were transported by ground ambulance to area hospitals.
UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 3:47 p.m. - The cause of the fire has been determined to be from a vehicle fire that spread to the vegetation.
UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 3:45 p.m. - The fire is now 300 acres and 10% contained. Updates will continue to be posted as information becomes available.
UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 2:45 p.m. - The fire is now 150+ acres.

UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 1:50 p.m. - One civilian suffered first and second degree burns to 3% of their body and was transferred by ground to an area hospital. The patient is the occupant of a vehicle fire in the area.
UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 1:20 p.m. - The fire is now 50 acres and remains at a moderate to rapid rate of spread in heavy fuels. Potential remains at 1,000 plus acres.
UPDATE 8/10/15 @ 1:05 p.m. - The incident command post has been established at the intersection of Highway 74 and Highway 371.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters, with the assistance of USFS San Bernardino responded to reports of a motor home fire that spread to the vegetation in the area of Highway 74 east of Highway 371 in Anza. The Anza Air Attack report a vegetation fire twenty five plus acres in size, with a moderate to rapid rate of spread, heavy fuels, with the potential of 1,000 plus acres. Currently there is no structure threat. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire is in unified command with the USFS San Bernardino. There is a road closure being placed on Highway 74 at Highway 371 from the Palm Desert side. Only residents will be allowed access. Everyone near the intersection of Highway 74 and Highway 371, in the Garner Valley area, should be aware of large brush fire in the area.


The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is alerting residents to a large brush fire near the intersection of Highway 74 and Highway 371, in the Garner Valley area. Voluntary evacuations are underway for the area. Highway 74 is closed in both directions in between Garner Valley and Palm Desert.
