On August 31, 2015, at 1:42 PM, Police Chief Dave Brown was driving from city hall to the his office at the police station when he witnessed an adult male marking graffiti on a business marquee in the 100 block of N. Buena Vista. Chief Brown who was wearing a full uniform exited the vehicle and contacted the suspect and advised him to sit on the curb. The suspect turned, asked him “who are you?” and took a fighting stance while raising his fists. Chief Brown called for back-up and took the suspect into custody who continued to resist until he was placed in handcuffs.
The business sign sustained substantial damage. The suspect was booked into Hemet P.D. and will later be transferred to a county jail. Deputy Chief Rob Webb said, “This type of thing doesn’t happen often, officers were surprised hearing the Chief call for assistance on the radio, but Chief Brown continues to show he loves and cares for this community like no other.”
