Hemet Eye News - Hemet : Two Arrested in Road Rage Incident

Press Release Update

On 7-31-15 at approximately 6:56 AM, The Hemet Police Department responded to an attempted homicide in the 1400 block of S. Gilbert St. Officers learned that a citizen had captured video of the event, depicting two suspects, one involved in the verbal argument with the victim, and the other driving the victim’s vehicle at a high rate of speed.

It was learned that the incident was a result of an on-going road rage incident in which one of the suspects stole the victim’s car. Based on information gained from the video it appears the male victim was intentionally hit with his own vehicle. Over the next several days the video was released to both social media and the news media in an attempt to identify the two suspects.

As a result of the video, investigators received multiple tips indicating the identity of the two suspects. Using information obtained as a result of those tips, investigators were able to positively identify both suspects.

On 8-4-15 at approximately 8:41 PM, investigators located and arrested a 17 year old male in connection with the previously reported road rage incident that occurred in the city of Hemet on 7/31/15. The juvenile was contacted during a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Buena Vista St. The juvenile is one of two suspects who were positively identified in this case. After initial processing at the Hemet Police Department, the juvenile suspect was transported to Riverside County Juvenile Hall.

Investigators were able to identify the second suspect as 18 year old Michael “James” Williams (1/12/97) of Hemet. Over the next few days investigators continued to investigate the case while also attempting to locate Williams. At approximately 7:00 PM on Thursday 8/6/15 Mr. Williams surrendered himself at the Hemet Police Department. Williams was arrested for Attempted Homicide and Conspiracy. Williams was later transported to the Riverside County Jail with a bail amount of $1,000,000.
