Transient ,Gerald Peachie, a 46 year old transient from Kern County was arrested today after attacking a Hemet Police Officer.

Transient Attacks Officer During Contact
Gerald Peachie, a 46 year old transient from Kern County was arrested today after attacking a Hemet Police Officer.
Shortly after 8:00 am on the 8th of September, a Hemet Police Officer responded to a disturbance call at a gas station located in the 2100 block of E. Florida Ave. The officer contacted the reporting party who was part of the cleaning crew. The reporting party told the officer that a subject who was later identified as Peachie, had been at the location and was arguing and yelling at them. The reporting party pointed out Peachie who was still nearby in an adjacent parking lot.
The officer approached Peachie, who was sitting in a wheelchair, and as the officer got close to him, Peachie suddenly jumped out of the wheelchair and attacked the officer. The officer and Peachie fell to the ground and during the altercation; Peachie pulled the officer’s badge off his uniform and grasped it so that the approximately three inch steel pin portion of the badge was positioned between his knuckles. Peachie then swung at the officer with the badge pin as a weapon. The officer was able to create some distance between them and deploy his baton.
Ultimately Peachie was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for medical clearance. Peachie was later transported to the Riverside County Jail. The officer was not seriously injured during the arrest.

Gerald Peachie, 46 year old transient, on PRCS out of Kern County.
Charges:
Battery on a Police Officer, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, and felony resisting arrest.
Bail: $30,000
