24 year old Hemet man, Damonte Roberson is on his way back to jail today after fighting with a Hemet Police Officer.
At about 7:47 am on the 2nd of September, a Hemet Police Officer was conducting extra patrol at a park in the 2500 block of W. Florida Ave. The officer saw Roberson walking through the park and recognized him from past contacts. The officer also knew that Roberson was currently wanted for a parole violation. Roberson saw the officer and immediately began running through the park toward a nearby motel. The officer broadcast Roberson’s direction of travel and description to the other officers in the area.
Another Hemet Police Officer who was in the area saw Roberson climbing a fence into another motel parking lot. The officer approached Roberson but before the officer could even get out of his vehicle, Roberson charged at him with his fists clenched. The officer had to use the door of his vehicle to knock Roberson back before Roberson could strike him. The officer was able to get out of his vehicle and a struggle ensued.
Ultimately Roberson was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for medical clearance. Roberson was later transported to the Riverside County Jail. Neither Roberson nor the officer were seriously injured.
Arrested:
Damonte Roberson, 24 year old Hemet Resident.
