UPDATED: VALLE VISTA: WOMAN, 80, WHO DIED AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR ON SR 74 ID’D

The victim who died in last night’s vehicle versus pedestrian collision has been identified as Margaret Perez, 80, of Hemet. The coroner’s office listed her location of injury as being in the roadway in front of 43880 Hwy 74 in Valle Vista, an unincorporated community east of Hemet. Her time of injury was listed as 6:45 p.m. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at Hemet Valley Medical Center 7:27 p.m.



VALLE VISTA – The woman involved in this evening’s vehicle versus pedestrian accident that happened at 6:48 p.m. died while en route to Hemet Valley Hospital, according to CHP Officer Poulter.
The victim has not been yet identified, pending notification of her family.
Westbound lanes of SR 74 at 6th street in Valle Vista remain closed while CHP officers conduct an investigation into the fatal traffic collision.

The accident was reported to Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters and deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Hemet/Valle Vista Station at 6:48 p.m. The first arriving emergency first responders arrived at the location just four minutes later at 6:52 p.m.
Firefighters and paramedics treated the pedestrian at the scene for nearly 30 minutes before the victim was transported with major traumatic injuries to Hemet Valley Hospital at 7:19 p.m.
According to a CHP incident log, the victim was in full traumatic arrest when they were transported to the hospital.

“The pedestrian, an adult female, was transported in serious condition via ground ambulance to an area hospital,” according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Jody Hagemann.
Although the accident happened less than one-half mile from the sheriff’s station on Acacia Avenue, all traffic collisions that occur in unincorporated areas are investigated by CHP.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
