Please help us congratulate the following two officers who were promoted yesterday to fill the role of those who were transferred into our Restoring Our Community Strategy Unit, aka ROCS Unit.
Lloyd Sanderson was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Lloyd spent the first ten years of his career with the Colton Police Department. He made the move to HPD in 2014. During his career he has served as a motor officer, field training officer, SWAT team member, honor guard member, accident investigator and crisis negotiator. In 2014, he received the Medal of Merit for his actions during a violent confrontation and in 2014 and 2016 he was the officer of the year. Cpl. Sanderson had his new badge pinned on by his daughter. He will be assigned to a patrol team as a field supervisor.
Derek Maddox is a Hemet High School graduate and started his career with HPD in 2004. He has served on our recruiting team, as a field training officer, accident investigator, peer support team, K-9 officer (with Rosco), K-9 coordinator, chaplain team coordinator and crisis negotiator. He received the officer of the year award in 2005, Police Cross Medal in 2007 and 2009, MADD Award in 2009, 10851CVC Master Gold Pin in 2009, and supervisor of the year in 2014. Sgt. Maddox had his new badge pinned on by his daughter. He will be assigned to supervise a patrol team.
