SAN JACINTO — Authorities are investigating the murder of a woman who died in San Jacinto after she was reportedly shot, Sunday, Nov. 12. The deadly shooting happened on the 100 block of N. Dillon Avenue between W. Cedar and Main Streets, according to sheriff’s officials.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s San Jacinto Police Station responded to the street about 3:15 p.m., after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon at the location.

When deputies arrived in the area they located a female down in the middle of the street, suffering from apparent gun shot wounds.
The woman, who has not been publicly identified pending notification of her family, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
After the deadly shooting, law enforcement officials flooded into the area and quickly established a large crime scene, setting up barrier tape and posting deputies surrounding N. Dillon Avenue, in order to keep curious onlookers and media away from where the crime reportedly happened.
Investigators from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
A sheriff’s mobile command center was set up near where the shooting happened and investigators, members of the department’s Forensic Services Bureau and other officials could be seen entering and exiting the command center as the investigation got underway.

The woman’s body remained in the roadway covered by a sheet for several hours, while investigators and other officials processed the crime scene and scoured the area for evidence.
Officials have not specified if they know the identity of the alleged shooter, if they have anyone in custody or if there was a known motive for the woman’s fatal shooting and no further information was immediately available.
Anyone with information about this investigation is encouraged to immediately contact sheriff’s officials at (951) 776-1099.
*UPDATE 11-13-2017* Riverside County Coroner’s office has identified the victim as Anna Meza, 31, resident of San Jacinto.
