HEMETNEWS.ORG Valle Vista Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting on Girard/ E. Acacia











On Friday, April 18, 2015, about 7:45 P.M., a Sheriff’s Deputy and a Highway Patrol Officer assigned to the Riverside County Gang Task Force conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Girard Street and Acacia Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Hemet.  The officers recognized the passenger of the vehicle as a subject with an active felony warrant for his arrest.  Upon stopping the car, the wanted subject exited the car and immediately began shooting at the officers.  The officers returned fire, striking the subject.  Medical aid was requested and provided at the scene; however, the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Neither the officers involved in the shooting or any members of the public were injured and the officers have been placed on administrative leave per Department policy.  The identity of the suspect is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.  The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Porrazzo at the Hemet Sheriff’s Station at (951) 791-3400 or Investigator Gomez at the Central Homicide Unit at (760) 393-3500.
