Hemet Police responds to 2 dogs in the heat in a parked car illegally parked at Grocery Outlet

Report by: Laurie Cain with Hemet News

Today on  Friday July 1st 2016 we were at Grocery Outlet on San Jacinto & Florida to get some water that they have on sale for $1.99 for 24 case.

As we parked I noticed a car that was parked Illegally in the blue lines marked NO PARKING beside the handicap parking spot.  Security was checking out the car then I noticed that there were 2 poor poodles inside the car panting like crazy .

I then pointed it out to the security guard & within minutes shoppers started gathering with anger and concerns for the dogs.

The security guard then began searching all businesses in the plaza announcing on their pa systems for who owned a ford explorer silver in color you have 2 dogs in your car and there is a lot of concerned citizens!

After about 20 mins the lady of the car came out of the Sprint store next to Grocery Outlet and you will have to watch the video below by clicking Play on video player below to watch as it started and ended.

And today it was 102 Degrees outside. This chart only shows up to 95 degrees
Could you imagine at 102 degrees  what the temp was inside this car at Grocery Outlet and
what those poor dogs were feeling ..

QUESTION IS !!!!

IS IT LEGAL FOR YOU TO SAVE THE DOGS BY SMASHING THE WINDOW ?

Lot of people say YES it is legal to Smash a Car Window
to save a pet from the heat?

So while Officer Green was taking report from me about the dogs being locked up in the car
we asked is it legal to smash a persons vehicle window out to save the animals from the
scorching heat when we run across this again and he said NO IT'S NOT LEGAL YET!

But he did say that it will be coming up in three months and he is hoping that it does pass
where we are able to do that to save a animal or child's life! So as of right now if you do break
a window to save them you will be held responsible for the window and the owner can press charges
against you if they wish to!

Officer Green was a vey kind and caring man when it came to the dogs in the ladies
vehicle and he said he would contact animal control about the issue and they would
take it from there.

So I hope this answers everyones question about the window smashing and what
could happen to you if you do that! We will update you as soon as we know if the law
passes and believe me I WILL BE THE FIRST TO BE BASHING THAT WINDOW OUT!
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FURBABIES OR CHILDREN IN YOUR VEHICLE
DURING THIS HOT WEATHER!!!!!!

THANK YOU TO HPD AND THANK YOU OFFICER GREEN FOR RESPONDING
SO QUICKLY! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!
