On December 15, 2015, at 1828 hours, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to a fatal traffic collision on Hewitt Street south of Esplanade Avenue. The initial investigation indicated a pedestrian stepped into the path of an oncoming vehicle and was struck. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment, and there was no indication of excessive speed. Hewitt Street was closed for several hours while the collision was investigated.
