MENIFEE - Butane Honey Oil (BHO) Lab Explosion

On Sunday, January 19, 2020 deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station along with CalFire responded to an explosion at a residence in the 24000 block of Ridgemoor Road in Menifee. Upon arrival, a male was found at the location suffering from major burns. The male was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. Additionally, the explosion caused extensive damage to the residence.

Further investigation revealed an active butane honey oil (BHO) lab at the residence. BHO is a form of concentrated cannabis extract using volatile solvents such as butane. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) was notified and responded to the scene. A search warrant was authored, and the scene was processed by specially trained members of MET. Several evidentiary items were recovered from the scene, including BHO lab equipment, cannabis, and finished BHO.
