In early January, deputies assigned to the Perris Station Special Enforcement Team received complaints regarding a possible illegal marijuana cultivation operation occurring in the city of Menifee. On January 22, 2020, at the direction of Sheriff Chad Bianco, personnel from the Perris Station Special Enforcement Team, with the assistance of Menifee City Code Enforcement, served a marijuana cultivation search warrant in the 31000 Block of Sewalt Court. As a result of the search warrant, 1602 marijuana plants were eradicated. In addition, the electrical system within the residence was illegally altered, causing a severe fire hazard. Southern California Edison employees responded to the location and rendered the hazard safe.  Southern California Edison valued the total theft of utilities at $39,0000.

Zhi Lin (49-year-old) and Biguang Lin (50-year-old), both residents from Elmhurst, New York, were arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for the illegal cultivation of marijuana and theft of utilities.
The goal of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is to improve the quality of life for those residing within the community.  “Community Policing” involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members.
