25 yr old Hemet man Arrested for Firearm & Stolen Vehicle

Traffic Stop results in Firearm & Stolen Vehicle Arrest

On Friday, September 9th at about 1:20AM, a Hemet Police Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of N San Jacinto St, Hemet. The license plates attached to the vehicle belonged to a Ford despite the vehicle being a Toyota.
The officer contacted the driver, Mando Kaphan, a 25- year old Hemet resident who is on Post Release Community Supervision out of San Bernardino. During the traffic stop investigation, the officer observed asawed-off rifle on the floorboard. Kaphan and the two other vehicle occupants were detained.

The vehicle was determined to be stolen from a Hemet resident, which was reported about 1 ½ hours before the traffic stop. Kaphan was arrested for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and vehicle theft. Kaphan was transported to Riverside County Jail and held on $10,000 bail.

One of the vehicle occupants was a female who was arrested for a no bail juvenile warrant. The other occupant, a male adult, was released from the scene.
