2016 National Night Out
The Hemet Police Department, in conjunction with Target Super Center, will again participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2nd. The event begins at 5pm and will be held in the Hemet Target Super Center parking lot on the corner of Sanderson and Florida Ave. The Hemet Police Department will bring several items for display, coloring books, balloons, & fingerprint kits for children.
Hemet Police Chief Dave Brown said, “Anytime we can take a few hours to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community-business partnerships, we are all over it. We are looking forward to another evening in the community on August 2nd.”
Hemet Police Officers, Explorers, and Volunteers will again join the National Night Out Campaign which is designed to: (1) Heighten crime prevention awareness, (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, many cities and towns celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special city-wide and neighborhood events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, visits from local officials and law enforcement, safety fairs, and youth events.
National Project Coordinator, Matt Peskin said, “This is a night for America to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight for a safer nation. On NNO, we invite neighborhoods nationwide to join us and give crime a going away party”.
Representatives from Kona Ice, Hometown Buffet, ADT Home Security and others will be on-hand with Hemet Home Instead Senior Care grilling BBQ donated by our Hemet Target Super Center.
Nationally, 38.3 million people participated in NNO 2015.
