Homicide Investigation in Hemet one teen shot in face 1 found dead CONFIRMED MAY BE 2ND DEAD NOT CONFIRMED

On Friday November 4th, 2016, at about 12:41 am, Hemet Police 911 Dispatch Center received a call of five shots heard, east of the 200 block of south Palm Avenue. A second call was received reference two subjects down in a field near the railroad tracks, in the same area, to include subjects seen running west from the area.

Hemet Police Officers arrived in the area within a minute and conducted and area check. Officers located one subject on Palm Avenue who stated his friend was shot. At that time, Hemet Police 911 Dispatch Center received a call from the 200 block of south Western Avenue, advising that someone was in their backyard with a bleeding head wound.

At the location, Hemet Officers located a 17 year old male victim with a gunshot wound to his left cheek. Emergency medical service was provided and the juvenile was transported to a nearby hospital. An uninjured subject, a friend of the gunshot victim, was also located in the backyard. It was later determined, the gunshot wound was a severe graze and not life-threatening. Due to the age of the gunshot victim, his name will not be released.

While Hemet Police Officers continued an area check, a deceased adult subject, with a gunshot wound to the back, was located in a storm drain east of the 200 block of south Palm Avenue. At this time, all the subjects located at the scene were determined to be acquaintances. From early statements provided to officers, there may be three unidentified suspects involved and only one shooter.

This is an active homicide investigation and Hemet Police Detectives are still following up on leads and witness information in attempt to identify the suspects involved in this case. A motive has not been determined and the name of the deceased will not be provided until the next of kin is notified.
