Five Arrested for Two Robberies

On 10/28/16 at 4:37 p.m. the Murrieta Police Department received a call from the Super Target located at 27818 Clinton Keith Road regarding a theft that had just occurred. The caller stated that four adult males had just fled the location with a large amount of alcohol. The first of several officers arrived at 4:42 p.m. and began checking the area for the suspects. It was discovered during the incident that a member of Super Target’s Loss Prevention Team was struck in the face by one of the suspects, turning the petty theft into a Robbery.

While the officers were investigating the incident at Super Target, the Murrieta Police Department received a call at 4:55 p.m. from the Albertson’s located at 28047 Scott Road reporting a robbery that had just occurred. The caller from Albertson’s stated that four males (same description) had fled the location with a large amount of alcohol. Officers arrived at 4:59 p.m. and discovered the males had fled the location after assaulting a bystander who attempted to stop them, classifying the theft as a Robbery. A passerby was able to obtain a description and license plate of the vehicle that the suspects fled in.

While rendering aid to the innocent bystander, the Murrieta Police Department Dispatch Center contacted the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to provide them with information regarding the two robberies that had just occurred. Shortly thereafter, RSO Deputies located the suspect vehicle driving northbound on the I-215 Freeway. After attempting to initiate a traffic stop, a pursuit ensued and the males fled from the vehicle on foot after it was parked in a parking lot in the 1700 block of Trumble Road in the City of Perris. In all, five males were apprehended and detained. An in field line up was conducted and witnesses from Super Target and Albertson’s responded to Trumble Road and positively identified all five suspects.

The suspects were identified as Desean Swan, Darnell Swan, Richard Ingram, Jordan Talley, and a 17 year old juvenile. All subjects were arrested for robbery, commercial burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and assault. The adults were booked into the Southwest Detention Center and the juvenile was booked into Southwest Juvenile Hall.

Bystanders involved in this incident were injured. The Super Target assault victim was treated and released at the scene. The Albertson’s assault victim was transported to the hospital and later released. Those injuries resulted in the suspect’s being charged with felony assault. The case is being handled and filed by the Murrieta Police Department with the assistance provided by the Riverside Sheriff’s Dept.

It should be noted the observant citizen at the Albertson’s did an outstanding job of being a witness and immediately called into the Police Department to report what they had seen. Their observation skills were critical in the arrest of these individuals.
