Hemet Police - Pursuit Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Vehicle
Jacob Telleson, a 28 year old Hemet man was arrested Thursday night after he led Hemet Police Officers on a vehicle pursuit.
At about 10:49 pm, a Hemet Police Officer was driving in the 1000 block of E. Florida Ave. when he noticed a white Honda Civic driving east on Florida Ave. Earlier in the day Hemet Police Officers had received information that a stolen white Honda Civic may be in the area and that the suspects may have swapped the license plates on the vehicle.
The officer began following the Honda and checked the license plate through dispatch. Dispatch confirmed that the license plate had been reported stolen earlier that day and the officer initiated a traffic stop. The Honda accelerated away and a pursuit was initiated.
The driver of the Honda, later identified as Telleson, led officers on a brief pursuit through several residential neighborhoods in the southern portion of the City. Ultimately, Telleson led the officers to the 800 block of W. Thornton Ave. where he stopped the vehicle, jumped out and ran away.
Officers coordinated a perimeter and began searching the yards in the neighborhood. Telleson was found hiding in a trashcan in the 800 block of Topaz St. and was taken into custody. A records check of Telleson revealed that there was an active ‘no bail’ warrant in the system for his arrest. The Honda was a previously reported stolen vehicle and the license plate had been stolen from another vehicle.
Arrested: Jacob Telleson, 28 year old Hemet resident.
Charges: Felony evasion, possession of stolen property, violation of probation, and a warrant for two counts of felony evasion and three counts of theft with a prior.
Bail: None.
