To qualify for a stolen vehicle recovery award officers/deputies have to recover a total of 12 stolen vehicles in a one year time span. A minimum of three of those have to be occupied stolen vehicles resulting in an arrest. The remaining can be unoccupied recoveries.

The master pin is awarded for every 5th stolen vehicle recovery award an officer/deputy earns.
