Hemet Police Solves Western Ave Stabbing Murder and Arrests 22 yr old Beaumont Subject with in hours

HEMET — Authorities investigating the fatal stabbing of a Hemet man last Friday night, Mar. 1, announced this morning the arrest of a Beaumont man in connection with the fatal incident.

Officials identified this morning Wilver Garcia as the victim who died after he was stabbed at least once in a Hemet neighborhood, in the 200 block of N. Western Ave, near Devonshire Ave.


 Witnesses at the scene the night of the deadly incident reported that evening that the victim had been stabbed in the chest multiple times.

Despite life-saving efforts and being rushed to an area hospital, Garcia succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased, Hemet Police Lt. Jeff Davis said.

During their investigation, officers and detectives developed leads and gathered information that led to the arrest today of Mark Acevedo, 22, of Beaumont.

Jail records at the time of this report indicated Acevedo had not yet been booked into jail or what charges the man faces, but his bail will be set at $1 million, according to Davis.

Authorities have not said what may have led to the deadly stabbing or released a possible motive.

Hemet PD’s investigation is ongoing and officials have asked that anyone with further information or who witnessed the stabbing to come forward and provide a statement by calling Hemet PD at (951) 765-2400. Callers can remain anonymous.

Wilver Garcia's family stated that Wilver just arrived home from work and decided to walk to the store. During his walk he was apparently jumped and was stabbed multiple times where he later died at the local hospital.

Wilver was known as a great family person, was very outgoing and was very well liked in his community and was a person who would always stop to help a stranger in need and always thought of others before himself.
